"The Seven Species of the Holy Land" By Bracha Lavee
This is a signed print reproduction from artist Bracha Lavee´s innovative felt tapestries. It depicts the seven species that are written about in the Bible. The Holy Land is described as “A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey (Deut. 8:8).” These seven species were the staple foods consumed by people during biblical times.
Bracha Lavee´s works are inspired by the Holy City of Jerusalem, stories from the Bible, and her deep roots in ancient and modern knowledge of the Holy Land. The vivid, semi-tropical colors found in her works result in strikingly dramatic works of art that also exude the warmth and energy of the Holy Land.
Bracha Lavee was born in Poland in 1948 and arrived in Israel in 1957. She lived and studied in Tiberias, where even as a small child her artistic talents were apparent. In 1970, following graduation from high school and the completion of military service, she enrolled in the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem.
