English Translation of the Hebrew Text

Header
In honor of the holy Sabbath and Festival.

The Biblical Verses (Genesis 2:1-3)
The sixth day.
And the heaven and the earth were finished, and all their host. And on the seventh day God finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it He rested from all His work which God in creating had made.

The Blessing over the Wine
(Instruction line in small print: By permission of my masters and teachers)
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.

The Sanctification Blessing (Kiddush)
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and has taken pleasure in us, and with love and favor has given us His holy Sabbath as a heritage, a memorial of the work of creation. For that day is the first of the holy convocations, a memorial of the exodus from Egypt. For You have chosen us and sanctified us above all nations, and with love and favor have given us Your holy Sabbath as a heritage.
Blessed are You, Lord, who sanctifies the Sabbath.
