About Passover : The Passover,is a feast of seven days, that remembers the miraculous events of God taking His people out of slavery in Egypt into freedom. Passover also commemorates the 40 days in Sinai that God revealed himself to Moses and gave to the children of Israel the Ten Commandments and the Torah. (Exodus 12:1-27)
Each year at the festival of Passover a special meal is held called a Seder. Seder means order. There is a prescribed order to the meal with prayer, food, and drink as well as telling the story of the exodus from a special book called the "Haggadah". At the Seder three matzah are placed in a special decorative holder called a "Matza Tosh," made from silk or other fabric.
The New Testament relates the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples to be the Passover Seder. It is at this opportunity that Jesus shares the "New Covenant" using the Matzah and the wine to represent his body and his blood.
Having a community Seder at the time of Passover may help congregations come closer to the teachings of Jesus by following the manner by which He lived His life.
