Additional Information

This Israeli "Knesset" Menorah Replica is a re

plica of the Menorah that stands outside of the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) gates and is the symbol of the modern State of Israel. The original Menorah was a gift to Israel from the British Parliament in 1956 and was designed by British-Jewish sculptor Benno Elkan. This Menorah has symbols that depict thirty important events, idioms and terms from Jewish history and tradition. The central branch presents the essence of the Jewish existence, and every relief on the left side is complimented by a relief on a branch on the right side. Perhaps more than any other symbol, the Menorah, a seven branch candelabrum, has come to represent the Jewish people. It symbolizes the idea that the nation of Israel is to be a light for all nations through setting an example: "Not by Might, nor by Power, but by my Spirit" (Zechariah 4:1-6). The Menorah once graced the Tabernacle as the children of Israel had traveled through the Sinai dessert. It stood as a great monument in both the First and Second Temples. Instructions for the construction of the Menorah can be found in Exodus 25:31-40. Today, the Menorah is the symbol of the modern state of Israel. Menorahs are still fulfilling the same function today as they have in the Biblical era. They can be seen in synagogues and households; bringing enlightenment and enhancing the spiritual connection of mankind with G-d.

Inner cup diameter approximately .5 inches or 1.5 cm.

**Please note: There are many different types of Menorahs and many different types of candles. However, there are techniques that can help you fit the two.

1.     If the diameter of the candle is larger than the Menorah's candle holder then you may try whittling a bit off the base of the candle so it will fit. Please keep in mind that this tip will not work if the candles are significantly larger than the candle holder.

2.     If the candle is too small then try heating the base of the candle using a small flame from a “Lighter” or another candle and when the base begins to melt insert it to the menorahs candle holder and press lightly for a few seconds until it sticks.
