Amos, a prophet, lived in Judah but traveled to the Kingdom of Ephraim/Israel during the reign of King Jeroboam II. This was in the mid-8th century B.C. Amos prophesied before Assyria conquered Ephraim/Israel. He addressed social injustice, where the wealthy oppressed the poor, and condemned the distorted religious practices of the people.
