Purim Noise Maker with Stand

This gorgeous version of the popular Purim children's toy is also a real work of art!  The cheerful colorful design was hand painted with a brush using acrylic colors, then covered with three layers of lacquer.  The base is blue with some red and yellow designs on the top.  The handle is blue and the top which spins is mostly res and yellow with accents in other colors.

The wooden noise maker for Purim is also known as a grogger in Yiddish or Ra'ashan in Hebrew.

It is customary to make noise when reading out Haman's name during the recitation of the Book of Esther on Purim.

The intention is fill the commandment of wiping out the name of Amalek, enemy of the Jews.

Size:  The top is carved from a single piece of wood 6 1/2 inches long by 2 5/8 inches wide by 3/4"  inch thick.  The two gears are 1 1/4 diameter.  the handle is 5" long and 5/8" diameter.   The base stand is 4 1/2" long by 1" wide and 3/4" high with a 5/8" diameter hole at one end.
