Purim Noise Maker with Stand

This gorgeous version of the popular Purim children's toy is also a real work of art!  The cheerful colorful design was hand painted with a brush using acrylic colors, then covered with three layers of lacquer.  The noisemaker and stand are mostly painted blue.  The top of the stand is painted in light green with two animals painted in yellow and orange.  The front of the noisemaker is also light green with birds painted in yellows and vines, leaves, and flowers in greens and reds.  

The wooden noise maker for Purim is also known as a grogger in Yiddish or Ra'ashan in Hebrew.

It is customary to make noise when reading out Haman's name during the recitation of the Book of Esther on Purim.

The intention is fill the commandment of wiping out the name of Amalek, enemy of the Jews.

Size:  The top is carved from a single piece of wood 6 1/2 inches long by 2 5/8 inches wide by 3/4"  inch thick.  The two gears are 1 1/4 diameter.  the handle is 5" long and 5/8" diameter.   The base stand is 4 1/2" long by 1" wide and 3/4" high with a 5/8" diameter hole at one end.

**DAMAGE:  On the top and handle are a few chips in the paint.  The stand has a small piece of wood missing, but it still supports the noisemaker.  There are some chips in the paint at the corners.
