Tzitzit Set

Tzitzit (tseet-tseet or TSIT-sis) are the strings, or fringes, that are worn on each of the four corners of your garment. They are widely considered a reminder, not unlike a string around one’s finger, to think of God at all times.

According to the biblical commandment, a blue thread known as "techelet" is included in the tzitzit (Numbers 15:38).

Techelet (תכלת‬) təḵêleṯ, "blue", is a blue dye mentioned 49 times in the Old Testament. It was used in the clothing of the High Priest, the tapestries in the Tabernacle, and the tassels , Tzitzit (tsiˈtsit), affixed to the corners of one's four-cornered garment, such as the Tallit/prayer shawl (garment worn during prayer, usually).

Numbers 15:38  “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, 40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.”

Deuteronomy 22:12  “You shall make tassels on the four corners of the clothing with which you cover yourself.”

These are tied in the Ashkenazi tzitzit.   The Tzitzit strings are tied with double knots that separate four groups of coiled string that include groups of 7, 8, 11 and 13 coilings.
