The New Jerusalem Anointing Oil (Cinnamon)
Once prized as highly as gold, cinnamon is one of the oldest spices in history. Sweet-but-spicy perfume, cinnamon is an instantly recognizable smell. It has a range of medicinal applications.
Cinnamon or “qinnamon” is a loan-word from the Greeks who again loaned it from the Phoenicians. Cinnamon is another one of the principal ingredients in the holy anointing oil.
The bark is harvested twice a year and happens immediately after the rainy seasons when rain soaked bark can be more easily stripped from the trees. The stripped cinnamon bark is carefully packed in layers, one inside the other, to produce long, rolled and layered “upright” quills. These upright quills remind us to live upright and righteous before the Lord.
This spice is also ground into powder for use. Grinding always speaks of submitting our lives to discipline and training that is necessary to come to maturity. This crushing and grinding is orchestrated by the Father. Yeshua Himself learned obedience through the things He suffered.
This is the oil of a life lived in uprightness and holiness through the grace of God.
