Unique 14kt gold earrings with Roman glass and filigree details. These beautiful gold earrings feature iridescent genuine blue Roman glass set in an exquisite gold setting. The 3/4 inch high oval suspends a 7/16 inch high oval frame that holds a 3/8 inch high oval piece of Roman glass.
The interior frame slopes upward and has a beaded center encircling the Roman glass. Delicate filigree attaches the interior frame to the outer polished oval. These earrings have a complex yet simple and lovely design.
They sparkle without being overwhelming.
At the top of the design is a circular bale that is attached to a fishhook ear wire with a spring clasp.

Roman Glass is a unique material found primarily in Israel in archaeological excavations. Because of the resourcefulness of the ancient Roman Empire, the manufacturing of glass became widespread and affordable during that era. After the fall of the Roman Empire, these shards of glass were remnants of the ancient civilization that were left behind. The shards of glass have been buried in Israel's ground where environmental conditions reacted to the glass to produce dazzling colors. Archaeologists find no importance in these shards but they have become highly prized by jewelers who set quality pieces into silver jewelry. Each shard has its own distinctive color pattern of glittering flecks, making every piece a one-of-a-kind.
