7 Branch Brass Menorah

Menorah 14.5" Solid Brass "Knesset"

This Menorah is a replica of the Menorah that stands outside of the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) gates and is the symbol of the modern State of Israel. The original Menorah was a gift to Israel from the British Parliament in 1956 and was designed by British-Jewish sculptor Benno Elkan.

This Menorah has symbols that depict thirty important events, idioms and terms from Jewish history and tradition. The central branch presents the essence of the Jewish existence, and every relief on the left side is complimented by a relief on a branch on the right side. Perhaps more than any other symbol, the Menorah, a seven branch candelabrum, has come to represent the Jewish people. It symbolizes the idea that the nation of Israel is to be a light for all nations through setting an example: "Not by Might, nor by Power, but by my Spirit" (Zechariah 4:1-6).

The Menorah once graced the Tabernacle as the children of Israel had traveled through the Sinai dessert. It stood as a great monument in both the First and Second Temples. Instructions for the construction of the Menorah can be found in Exodus 25:31-40.

Today, the Menorah is the symbol of the modern state of Israel. Menorahs are still fulfilling the same function today as they have in the Biblical era. They can be seen in synagogues and households; bringing enlightenment and enhancing the spiritual connection of mankind with G-d.

Inner cup diameter approximately 1 inch or 2.5 cm.
