A Pillar of Pepper and other Bible rhymes is written by John Knapp II and contains a collection of eighty-five poems focusing on biblical events from the Old and New Testaments.
John Knapp II (1940 - ) (PhD in sci. ed.) is former Professor of English at SUNY-Oswego and writer of science textbooks for Silver Burdett, and also a Sunday school teacher and black belt in karate.
His volume of poetry, "A Pillar of Pepper," won the first C. S. Lewis Gold Medal in 1983. A former department editor for School Science and Mathematics, he founded (and edited) The Westigan Review of Poetry and later the Endless Mountains Story Club.
He and his wife Karen divide their time between Florida and Northwestern Pennsylvania..
